I agree that it's better in certain circumstances to put a contract into writing, however, a contract may equally be oral. Questions such as how come the other party happened to perform some work for you, and how much such works in the industry usually attract (quantum meruit) are relevant. Nobody should think that if a contract is not documented, then it does not satisfy the elements of a valid contract. That is incorrect. The reluctance or inability to enforce the terms of a contract largely depends on one or both of the contracting parties who may so decide. The usual "fa ma nyame" syndrome in Ghana.
This is the reason the Ghana movie industry has collapsed. It is not being handled professionally. Why would you not sign a contract but go ahead to do a job? It is the contract that gives legal backing and financial liability to the producer and the actor/actress for whatever job is going to be executed . If he says he won't pay you it is your word against his word in the absence of a contract.
