Gerry Partington, Miss Malaika Ghana 2011 hosted a Fund Raising Fashion Show to raise money to support her charity project- to educate young people between the ages of 15–19 located in selected districts in Greater Accra and Central.

The project aims to cater to the reproductive educational needs of these young women both in and out of school through workshops, drama, film shows and any other medium that can carry the message of making wise reproductive health choices and preventing unintended pregnancies.

Maternal mortality is still very high in Ghana where it is recorded that 1 out 66 women might die during complications associated with childbearing and although the country has made some stride to change this, it is still very dangerous to give birth in Ghana.

According to Gerry her project seeks to contribute to reductions in youth maternal mortality in Ghana by increasing the capacity of youth to make responsible and informed decisions and choices about their reproductive health

The well orchestrated fashion fundraiser at the plus Adae Kese hall of the La Palm Beach Hotel in Accra attracted a sizeable audience. The guests spent an exhilarating night being treated to some scintillating music by GMA Instrumentalist of the Year Steve Baidee, Emmanuel of SOF
fame and popular Highlife musician, Dada KD.

They were also treated to a fashion show put up with designs from Tony Black Couture, Harmony Trends, Duaba Serwaa, Peach n Purr, J.Glo, Afri-Ken Novelty, Diva Delicious, Shik Collections, Pistis, Ajepomaa Gallery, Akataasia, AMG Couture and Elom.

The radiant accessories worn by the delegates of the ongoing Miss Malaika Ghana 2012 competition other models on the night were all provided by Oouch Accessories. At the end of the fashion show hosted by Naa Ashorkor, the auction phase was activated with an excellent
presentation by Who-wants-to-be-a-millionaire host Kafui Dey.

It was exciting watching the ladies bid and counter bid on this or that dress and the victory celebrations that followed after a win. The excitement was also increased with a raffle draw where guest had the chance of winning some appliances from Hisense.

Her project was supported by the Minsitry of Health, Sidalco, La Palm Royal Beach Hotel. ATL, TT Brothers, Sadina Water, Sikkens, Toshiba Medicals, UT Bank, EPP Books, Shoprite, PZ Cussons, Simbins Furniture, Malaria Control Board and Alliance for Reproductive Health
Rights.
