Per the article detailing what is perceived to have gone wrong with Miss Malaika Ghana 2013 and the involvement of Kwabena Poku and Media POP Ghana, we would like to set certain records straight on this issue.

Media POP Ghana has been involved with Miss Malaika Ghana Social Media activities for the past 4 years purely as an agency working with GH ONE as its client. It is important to note that we have never participated in any final determination of what goes on in terms of the main pageant, aside from offering advice and strategy direction per digital media in its broad sense.

In terms of Miss Malaika Ghana 2012 and 2013, Media Pop advised GH One to utilize their Social Media fans and engage them in the decision making process as to who makes it to various rounds of the competition. This was done through the power of likes per images posted which will form part of the delegate’s final score even if it’s a small percentage of the said score.

Now we are being accused of manipulating the number of LIKES certain delegates got and we would like to set the records straight on this issue. First of all, the Miss Malaika Ghana Facebook page is not advertising on Social Media (Be it Facebook Ads or Sponsored Stories).

Every LIKE we’ve got on that page is based on our content and consistent engagement strategy. We always ask the Ladies ie delegates to promote the links to their individual albums via their own channels which in this case is their personal Facebook Pages, Twitter handles and their Instagram pages.

All of these Ladies work aggressively to increase their likes as well as get the support from a vibrant Malaika following on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Under no circumstances have we or any of our affiliate’s manipulated figures for or on behalf of any delegate.

Having said that, the only way to increase likes per delegate is to boost the said post on Facebook. That can only be done by paying for the said BOOST.

We have not and will not pay for any delegate to boost their images on Facebook. Brand Miss Malaika Ghana is a Vibrant Social Brand hence our LIKES, REACH and ENGAGING figures have grown over the past 3 years.
