Ghanas sprint sensation Janet Amponsah has qualified for the final of the 200m event at the ongoing World Junior Championship in Barcelona on Thursday, 12th July, 2012.
Janet came third a time of 23.49 secs behind USAs Dezerea Bryant 23.11 and Great Britains Desiree Henry 23.28 in Heat three of the semi finals.
But she qualified because the time she made was the fourth fastest overall in the semi finals.
The in-form sprinter earlier in the day came first in a time of 23.83 secs in Heat 3 ahead of Turkeys Nimet Karakus 23.89 and Australias Rosalie Tschann in a time of 24.61.
Janet, who run a personal best of 23.48 secs at the National Athletics Championship in June, is Ghanas best medal prospect in Barcelona.
She qualified for the final of the 100m and 200m finals at the African Athletics Championship just last month, having recorded impressive performances in the 200m over the course of the season: 23.86 in Tamale, 23.67 in Abidjan and 23.48 secs at the National championships.
