Hard-hitting puncher, Braimah Kamoko, popularly known as Bukom Banku, may have well beaten Ayittey Powers into silence, but Kamokos health since that famous win last week is threatening to scupper his first international bout in Russia.

Barely three days after recording a unanimous decision points verdict over powers at the Accra stadium, Kamoko hit the gym in preparation towards facing Russian opponent, The Machine Chackhkiev for his first major fight outside Ghana. But according to sources, the fighter was forced to withdraw early from training, citing pains in the ribs.

Not long after, the boxer was reported to have suffered a swollen right hand which reportedly emanated from an accident in his house while celebrating the win over Powers.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports, Kamokos manager, Abraham Kotey Neequaye, admitted his boxer had a few health issues and was recuperating steadily but was unsure if the May 30 bout would come off.

Undefeated Kamoko will attempt to snatch the WBC Silver cruiserweight title from the Russian holder at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, but the injury suffered by the Ghanaian with less than 10 days to the bout, may all but end his dreams of a first international fight.

Mr Neequaye explained that, the injury occurred after a household implement fell on Kamokos right hand during post-fight celebrations at his residence in Bukom.

He was celebrating the win over powers when he injured his right hand. On Monday went to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to have it assessed, but at the moment the hand is very swollen.

We are meeting the doctors today for a review after which we will release a statement. However, we are very disappointed because we have secured all our visas for our team and planned to depart for Russia this weekend, he said.

Mr Neequaye also denied that the injury was sustained in the fight against Powers, which he likened to a a walk in the park, while insisting that all boxers sometimes suffer freak injuries outside the ring.
