A credit facility of 180millon dollars is to be accessed from the government of China for the construction of six (6) 15,000-seater stadia in Ho, Sunyani, Koforidua, Wa, Bolgatanga and Cape Coast at an average cost of 30million dollars each.
This was made known in Parliament today by Hon. Akua Sena Dansoa, Minister for youth and Sports when she answered questions from some members of the House. She said the memorandum of understanding for the credit facility is being studied.
However, the minority leader, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu did not understand why a 45,000-seater capacity stadium like the Baba Yara and Ohene Djan stadium in Kumasi and Accra respectively cost 38million dollars each whilst each of the six 15,000-seater stadia to be constructed will rather cost 30million dollars. Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu therefore demanded an explanation from the minister.
