The Black Meteors players, who are representing Ghana at the on-going WAFU tournament in Nigeria, suffered mosquito bites at night, information reaching Daily Guide indicates.
According to reports, the Ghanaian players could not sleep at night during the initial stages of their stay in Nigeria as the hotel was full of mosquitoes.
Most of the players complained of bodily pains to the technical team due to excessive bites by mosquitoes in the night.
Aside the mosquito bites, portable drinking water and other essential amenities at the hotel were unsatisfactory, creating discomfort for the Black Meteors. Reports say the mosquito bites negatively affected the players until they were rescued by the current Ghana Football Association (GFA) and WAFU Boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi when he visited the team.
The playing body reported that the excessive mosquito bites and other problems at the hotel to Mr. Nyantakyi, who hurriedly arranged for a better hotel for the team.
