Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has withdrawn from the England squad to face Switzerland in the Euro 2012 qualifier on 4 June at Wembley. The 28-year-old, who played the full 90 minutes against Birmingham on Sunday, pulled out with an unspecified injury.
England boss Fabio Capello has decided against calling up a replacement. Darren Bent, Peter Crouch and Bobby Zamora are the remaining strikers for the tie with Wayne Rooney suspended and Andy Carroll injured.
Defoe has scored 15 goals in 46 England appearances, including a hat-trick in England's opening Euro 2012 match against Bulgaria in September.
On Tuesday West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green was called into the England squad to replace Fulham's David Stockdale, who is getting married the day before the Wembley match.
