Captain of the Black Stars is on the verge of fulfilling a promise he made to his alma mater some months ago.
Asamoah Gyan, popularly known as ‘Baby Jet’ visited the Accra Academy Senior High School yesterday to cut sod for the commencement of an astro turf football field to replace the school’s grass-less surface pitch.
Earlier this year, he visited the institution in the company of his manager Samuel Anim Addo to make the promise and has backed his words with action by returning to the school with the contractor contracted to work on the project.
Mr. Robert Coleman was awarded the estimated $250,000 contract to setup an artificial field for the school.
The Communications Director for Zoomlion in an interview with Peacefmonline.com revealed that he had already visited Turkey to inspect the state of the turf and promised to build make ready the 3000 square metres astro turf by January.
He however made it clear that the public could only have access to the facility in May next year.
