Former President John Dramani Mahama is constantly praying for a miracle as Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu is reportedly ‘trapped under rubble’ following a devastating earthquake that has left over a thousand dead in Turkey and Syria.
The Ghanaian plays for the Turkish club Hatayspor, which is based in the region of Kahramanmaras – one of the areas hit hardest by the quake.
Mr Mahama urged Ghanaians to continue to pray for the Black Stars player.
“Let's continue to pray for our brother, Christian Atsu, and his club director. The city of Hayat is in the region affected by the earthquake. Let's continue to pray that God spares their lives.” He said in a tweet.
The earthquake, the second-largest in the last century anywhere in the world, has already been reported to have claimed more than 1800 lives both in Turkey and neighbouring Syria, CNN reports.
