The Black Stars are still searching for a first win since qualifying for the World Cup in September after only managing a goal-less draw against 2010 Nations Cup hosts Angola in Luanda on Wednesday.

Milovan Rajevac, without key players Stephen Appiah, Samuel Inkoom, Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan, still went on to name an impressive side of second-choice players captained by John Paintsil, who didn’t disappoint with an impressive display.

It means no win for the Black Stars in three games since qualifying for the 2010 World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Sudan.

But Rajevac would take heart from the performance of his second-choice players against the 2010 hosts.

Rahim Ayew had a fine game at the problematic left-back slot, while Kwadwo Asamoah, who was benched for the Awol Sulley Muntari but played a blinder behind the main striker in Angola.

Dominic Adiyiah was one of five players from the national U-20 side to start as Rajevac rested the few established players to have made the trip to Luanda for the untested ones.

The game passed off with no coverage on local TV and not much interest after the build-up was overshadowed by the decision of key players to miss the trip.

Rajevac will now turn his attention to dealing with those three players before checking up on Portsmouth midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng as he mulls his options for the 2010 Nations Cup in Angola next year.
