The Africa Union (AU) has heaped huge praise on the world football stars who have agreed to play in a charity match later this month to help promote peace in Africa.
AU ambassador and Cheslea star Michael Essien has been organised the game in Accra on 25 May to raise awareness of the need for peace in Africa.
Several world-class players from Europe and many former international stars have confirmed their participation in the game.
Some Africa countries have recently experienced violent incidents with Ivory Coast and Libya still experiencing some violence.
The AU, the grouping of all African countries, has hailed the decision by several players both Europeans and Africans to attend the game in Accra and help promote peace.
“We are delighted and proud of all the players who have agreed to help Michael Essien promote peace and raise awareness for Peace in Africa,” the AU said in a statement.
“The whole of Africa will be tuning in to watch the game and will be fully behind all of you.
“With your busy football schedules you have still found time to help and are showing your love to our people. We are very grateful for your efforts.
“We are looking forward to seeing you all in Accra and a delegation from the AU will be there to join you for this symbollic game.”
The match has been organised byMichael Essien to raise awareness of the need for peace in Africa.
