Ghanaian players abroad played key roles in the campaigns of their clubs as the European seasons judders to a halt.

Some have helped lift their clubs through difficult times, their highs indeed higher than their lows, with some winning personal awards and club titles.

Below are three nominees for the GHANAsoccernet.com Readers Player of the Season Abroad Award.

Who is your Ghanaian player abroad for the award.

Kevin-Prince Boateng (Midfielder) – AC Milan

Appearance- 25

Goals- 3

Boateng, 24, arrived at the San Siro after enjoying an impressive summer World Cup with the Black Stars in South Africa.

The former German U21 star seemed however stranded at relegated Portsmouth before the mundial.

After excelling with the quarter-finalist, Ghana, Genoa made a £5.5million swoop for the influential midfielder.

Milan then reached an agreement with Genoa President Enrico Preziosi to take Boateng on loan.

After making his bow in the Rossoneri jersey against Barcelona in a pre-season game, Boateng has always given Boss Massimiliano Allegri a course to worry when he is out injured.

Holding down a permanent place Milan cannot come on a silver platter but the 23-year-old has been phenomenal in midfield for the Rossoneri pushing regulars like Genaro Gattuso, Massimo Ambrosini and Andrea Pirlo to the pegging order and has become fans favourite at the San Siro.

The enforcer has scored three key goals and provided several assists to Alexander Pato and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Kevin has already won the Scudetto with Massimiliano Allegri’s side, their first in seven seasons.

He also played a key role in Milan’s European campaign which was ended in the quarter finals by English side Tottenham Hotspurs.

This is no doubt the best season in the fast improving career of Boateng.

Asamoah Gyan

Asamoah Gyan (Forward)-Sunderland

Appearances- 30

Goals- 10

Splendid world cup with penalty miss against Uruguay aside.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted been wowed by the striker at the mundial last June.

Steve Bruce broke the bank to pay £13m to French side Stade Rennes for Gyan’s services.

On his debut game at Wigan in October, Gyan came of the bench to connect home a Jordan Henderson cross.

A month later, he put manager Steve Bruce on the road to redemption with a stunning brace against Stoke City.

He then turned his attention to Chelsea which he helped Sunderland to ravage at the Stamford Bridge.

With Gyan’s improvement on the ascendancy, striker partner Darren Bent realised his first team place had come under threat.

He departed the Aston Villa.

Ten goals on his debut season at the Wearside, the 25-year-old is already attracting German side Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspurs.

That fantabulous strike at the Wembley Stadium against the ‘Three Lions’ will goal down as one of the best goals scored in the stadium.

Andre Ayew (Winger) – Olympique de Marseille

Appearance- 34

Goals- 10

Andre Ayew put behind him the barrage of criticisms that was directed at him showed class at the World Cup with the Black Stars.

He then turned his attention to the Stade Velodrome where he was deemed surplus to requirement the season earlier.

A vanguard of creativity, Andre, the second of the Ayew brothers was picked as the most interest Ghanaian footballer to watch this season and he has lived up to expectations.

The 21-year-old has become the most feared winger in the Ligue 1 making Marseille the team with the most potent attacking threat.

Andre is the second top scorer at the Stade Velodrome with a single goal shy of Loic Remy’s eleven in thirty-four games and has swept home the Marseille player of the month on two straight occasions.

His first senior hat-trick came last month when Marseille dispatched local rivals OG Nice 4-2.

Uefa Champions League finalists Barcelona and Manchester United have both reportedly lined up the Ayew for a summer move but that will not come easy as Bavarians are still dreaming a move for the fighter.

This is indeed a season full of outstanding cameo for Ayew.
