Nigeria legend Nwankwo Kanu has confirmed he will take part in the Michael Essien charity match between Africa XI and the World XI select sides at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
The former Super Eagles skipper who will organize a similar event next month in Lagos told Nigerian newspaper Thisdaylive that he is looking forward to making the trip to Accra to help his friend in his charity drive.
“I’m looking forward to taking part in the charity match in Accra because it is for a very good cause,” The former Arsenal man said
“I have known Michael (Essien) since he joined Chelsea and although I’ve often been on the end of defeats (laughing) we have always remained friends. After all we are both professionals doing our jobs,” he added.
Kanu is one of the numerous world’s football icons who have confirmed their participation in the event.
