Asante Kotoko have lost out on goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda after the AshantiGold safest pair of hands agreed a two-year contract extension, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.
The Porcupine Warriors were hoping to land the impressive gloves man and tabled a formal bid for him.
Dauda himself was keen on a new challenge at Kotoko and put in a request to join them after seven years at Obuasi.
But the goalkeeper who had one year left on his current contract has decided to stay put at the club.
”Yes it is true that I have decided to stay because the club didn’t allow me to go. I had to respect my contract with them and after serving them for quite a number of years, I was convinced my future lie here,” Dauda said.
”To be very honest with you, I wanted to play for Kotoko. I put in a request because I wanted a new challenge but in the end we had to come to this conclusion.”
