Ghana assistant coach Kwesi Appiah was on Friday assigned head coach for the home-based national team.
Appiah, an ex-Ghana captain, earned rave reviews after guiding the national Under-23 team to win a historic All Africa Games gold medal.
He should be familiar with the job after assisting Serbian Milovan Rajevac to win silver at the maiden edition in Ivory Coast in 2009.
Appiah will have to pick the best in the Ghana Premier League for the next edition in 2013 after an early elimination at the last edition in Sudan early this year.
His assistant will be former Great Olympics coach Dauda Lutterodt.
