Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari says that it would be erroneous to judge their final group match opponents Guinea at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations by their performance four years ago.
Although the new AC Milan loan signing relishes earning the match winner in the Black Stars’ opening group game against the Syli Nacional in 2008 on home soil, he said the Guineans have gone through several transformations and that Ghana should just focus on winning Wednesday’s game.
“The important thing is that we win,” Muntari told the Ghana FA website. “Yeah, four years ago we won and that was some time ago. Things have changed now.”
“We need to win and their team is not the same like four years ago just like ours.
“If it happens, fine. We are a team with the same ambition, to win. We just want to win,” he said.
The four-time African champions will square off with Guinea on Wednesday and need a draw to consolidate their stay at the top and to progress to the knockout stage.
