Ex-France international Marcel Dessailly is eyeing the Black Stars job he turned down on two occasions.
The former Chelsea captain has emerged as one of the huge favourites to be handed the top-job if the Ghana Federation opt to sack Serbian trainer Goran Stevanovic following his failure to win the 2012 African Cup of Nation staged in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
It will be the first time the French legend will have openly declared his intention to take over the mantle after he turned down the offer twice in the past if he put in his application.
Ex-Ghana Sports Minister Rashid Pelpuo and some officials of the Ghana Federation made numerous overtures to give him the job but he turned it down claiming he wasn’t ready for the challenge.
He was again part of a three-man shortlisted for the job but he sensationally pulled out of the race claiming the process was too
cumbersome.
But this time around Dessaily must also fend off competitions from the likes of three-time African Footballer of the year Abedi Pele, Sellas Tetteh and Brazilian legend Dunga who have all been heavily linked with the job.
Ghana is racing against time to decide on the future of Goran Stevanovic with impending 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifiers and crucially the 2014 Fifa World Cup and must therefore settle on a coach quickly if they want to make an impact.
