Ghana captain John Mensah has congratulated his teammates for averting defeat against Chile in a friendly on Wednesday.
The Lyon centre-back was one of seven regulars who missed the exhibition match in the 1-1 draw played at the PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.
Home-based Richard Mpong, one five newcomers who featured in the friendly, scored the opener before Mathias Fernandez equalized from the spot.
“I am excited about the results, though the Chileans cancelled the lead. The team has done us and the entire country proud,” Mensah told the Daily Guide.
“I commend my colleagues, technical team and the management members for a good job done. We will build it up from there to win back the confidence reposed in us.
“Some of us couldn’t respond to the national call due to injuries but those who did, made a good representation.”
Mensah is battling a thigh injury picked up at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
