Veteran Emmanuel Kwasi Afranie is the latest to express interest in the Black Stars coaching job.
The Ghana FA are currently head hunting for a replacement of Serbian Goran Stevanovic who was laid off following his inability to lead the team to Nations Cup glory in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
Ex France captain Marcel Desailly is widely reported to be the preferred choice but Afranie who has coached Ghana at all levels in the past says it is high time the Ghana FA returned to the basics by employing indigenous tacticians with the right credentials for the senior national team.
“People always talk about recycling but the truth of the matter is that we are good enough to coach the Black Stars,” he said.
“I am currently working with the unearthing and polishing of talents which in coaching is the most difficult so why can’t I coach the Black Stars.
“In any case most of the players in the Black Stars now have passed through my hands so where is the difficulty?”
Aside haven managed all of Ghana’s national teams, Afranie has also had stints with virtually all club sides in the country.
