Ex Ghana international Mohammed Gargo insists it will be premature to hand Laryea Kingston a recall to the Black Stars.
The 31-year-old returned to play for Hearts of Oak in the Ghanaian top flight in January after moves to European clubs failed to materialize.
He has since put up glimpses of impressive outings for the Phobians, drawing plaudits from many including ex Ghana defender Sammy Kuffour who believes Kingston has played himself back into contention for a Black Stars recall.
But Gargo says the former Heart of Midlothian player needs to do more to merit a place in the current crop of national team players.
“Laryea (Kingston) started playing not long ago. He will need more time to adjust to enable him come up to speed with the modern game,” he told Kumasi-based Angel FM.
“Then in that case I can also play for the Black Stars?
“He needs to beef up his level of tuning because he (Kingston) is way behind in terms of stamina and speed as compared to say Sulley Muntari or Dede Ayew.
“He will therefore need to do more to convince all that he is ready to return to the Black Stars otherwise he will be going to embarrass himself .”
Kingston has not been involved with the Black Stars for almost two years, his last stint was in the lead up to the 2010 World Cup where he failed to make the final squad to South Africa.
