Berekum Chelsea striker Emmanuel Clottey is in pole position to break Stephen Worgu’s CAF Champions League goal tally record of 13 goals.
The Ghana international leads the scorers chart with nine goals and with five matches remaining in the Group phase, the 24-year-old quick-silver forward can rake in more goals.
Clottey’s hat-trick against Zamalek in Accra snatched a 3-2 victory in their opening Group B match.
The top scorers of the last two editions of the CAF Champions League Michael Eneramo and Edward Sadomba managed eight and seven goals respectively.
Worgu’s scoring feat was recorded in the 2008 finals when he was a player of Nigerian side Enyimba FC.
Clottey will be relied upon to bang in the goals when the debutants visit TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi on July 22.
