Midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei has confirmed he is in talks with Asante Kotoko over a new deal.
The future of the 23-year-old has been uncertain in the past few weeks with reports linking him a shock move to rivals Hearts of Oak.
But the Premier League Champions want to move swiftly to tie their prized asset to a long-term deal to avoid unsettling the player.
The former Power FC enforcer says he is close to pledging his future to the Kumasi-based.
“I am not joining Hearts of Oak. Negotiations relating to my contract with Kumasi Asante Kotoko have already started,” Adjei said
“Those reports are not true. I am certain that I would play for Kotoko next season.”
He was crowned the Premier League’s best after sterling performances for the Porcupine Warriors last season.
