Milovan Rajevac has expressed the desire to return as Ghana coach two years after refusing to extend his stay with the Black Stars.

The Serbian presided over probably the most successful period in Ghana’s football history without winning a trophy – leading the team to two grand finale’s; at the 2009 CHAN (local Black Stars) and the 2010 Nations Cup.

He also led the main Black Stars team to equal an African record of a quarter final finish at the World Cup in South Africa after which his initial two-year deal with the Ghana FA expired.

The 58-year-old subsequently refused to sign a new deal to continue his great works with the Black Stars in preference to a more lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli.

The former Vovojdina and Borac Cacak coach now says given the opportunity, he wishes to return to the post currently being manned by former Ghana captain Akwasi Appiah two years after turning down a chance to extend his stay. “Coaching in Ghana is a beautiful experience and fantastic memories this is because Ghanaians adore football and we achieved results,” he told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

“Helping them qualify for the World Cup and beating my home country Serbia was one of the achievements and one day maybe I will arrive to maybe work again. “Also there is a lot of possibilities of working in other African countries because I enjoyed my time in Africa.

“For two years I had no problem working in Ghana. My relationship with the Ghana FA, the media and the people was fantastic and is now my second home and one day probably, I will like to come back.”

Rajevac was in 2011 amongst candidates lined up to take up the Egyptian national team after the sacking of Hassan Shehata but the job was eventually handed to American Bob Bradley.

He went on to coach the Qatar national team but was sacked.
