A total sum of Ghc 350,000 ($186, 419) was made available for Hearts of Oak’s recruitment exercise in the off-season, a source has revealed to GHANAsoccernet.com.

The amount according to the trusted source, was lent to the club at a 27 percent interest rate by chairman Togbe Afede XIV.

This amount was woefully inadequate for the recommended transfer buys of coach CK Akunnor.

Akunnor had presented a tall list of players he wanted at the club which included in-form Kotoko midfielder currently on loan at Amidaus; Yahaya Mohammed, Latif Salifu who eventually joined Berekum Chelsea, AshantiGold striker Yakubu Mohammed and the on-loan Kotoko defender of Ebusua Dwarfs Rashid Sumaila amongst others.

The ex XI Wise coach has refused to comment about the purchases made during the active transfer period.

The issue of the quality of recruitments made by Hearts has come to the fore following the Phobians’ shambolic start to the Premier League season.

The Rainbow boys have suffered three successive defeats and are now just a place above the relegation zone haven picked up a paltry four points from a possible fifteen.

The fresh revelation is even more shocking following the club’s declaration of enough resources going into the transfer market.

Hearts have been boasting of being the most wealthiest Ghanaian club following the flotation of club shares earlier this year.

There were even reports of an astonishing $2.5m war chest made available to rigorously pursue players during the off-season.

However, Hearts were seemingly found badly wanting when it came to finding the cash to bring quality materials into team.
