Ghana will, by 6:00 p.m. today be the fourth West African country to join three other West African countries Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Cameroon as African representatives to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Ghana has a handsome 6-1 first leg win.
The fifth and final slot will also be decided today as Burkina Faso go into the second leg with a close 3-2 win over Algeria.
One issue is certain - Ghana will qualify for its third consecutive appearance at the World Cup. Some of the uncertainties regarding the match include whether the Black Stars can surprise the Egyptians with a draw or how close will the Egyptians come to achieving their dream of qualifying for the World Cup t- hat is scoring five unanswered goals against Ghanas Black Stars?
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved a 16 point security plan to ensure the safety of the Black Stars and all Ghanaians supporters. The plan was prepared by the Egyptians authorities and approved by FIFA before being presented to Ghana.
FIFAs Security Coordinator, Dr. Bolaji Ojo-Oba, has been in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, over the past 10 days.
One point is on laser beams and fire-crackers, upon complaints from Ghana, the Egyptians agreed to stop the use of laser beams and fire crackers at the match.
Coach Kwasi Appiah is expected to field a strong five-man midfielder of Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Kwadwo Asamoah, Kevin Prince-Boateng and Dede Ayew to keep the Egyptians at bay, to avoid them overlapping to put pressure on our defence.
The fact that Muntari, Asamoah and Boateng can score goals outside the Egyptians 'penalty area will make the Egyptians think twice before they commit their midfielders to attack our goal area. Whilst they concentrate and stop these three midfielders from scoring, Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, will be waiting to pounce.
Good luck, Black Stars!
