Ghana claimed glory at the GoTV Wafu Cup after they ended Senegal's unbeaten run with a 3-1 win to claim the title on Thursday in Kumasi.

Maxwell Konadu's side were full value for their worth, giving themselves a good test ahead of their participation at next year's African Nations Championship in South Africa.

Man-of-the-match Latif Mohammed scored in between defender Kwabena Edusei's brace which both came from the spot in either half as the Teranga Lions got a consolation from captain Roger Gomis.

Ghana were quick from the start as Mohammed Sulley run onto a pass on left side of defence, beating his marker for pace, he raced into the box only to be fouled by his marker from behind.

Referee Jerry Yeke pointed to the spot and Edusei stepped up to score the opener from in the second minute.

Seven minutes later, Sulley was late to connect a pass across the face of goal by Yahaya Mohammed, who was later pulled out due to injury and replaced by Michael Akuffu.

But Senegal settled in and 20 minutes after the opener, Gomis did a great job in front of the Ghana penalty box before he let fly a shot which beat goalkeeper Stephen Adams.

Both sides went into the break with the score at 1-1.

The two sides returned from the break determined to go for broke and it took Ghana some 32 minutes before Latif restored their lead.

With time ticking, Mohammed Sulley was again fouled in the box to win for Ghana another penalty.

And Edusei was on hand again to score, a goal which put the game beyond the Senegalese with five minutes remaining on the clock.

Minutes later, Senegal had Thioune Ousseynou sent off.

Ghana won three games out of four matches at the competition and lost one.

Former champions, Togo won the third-place fixture after defeating Benin 2-1.

Nouwoklo Kossivi put Togo in front after 5 minutes before Dossou Jodel equalised for Benin in the 34th minute.

Togo restored their lead through Saibou Badarou, who finished as the competition's top-scorer with four goals to win bronze.
