It is official! Finalwhistlegh.com can report that barring any last minute hitches, Life Patron of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will appoint Samuel Osei Kuffour as the new chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the porcupine warriors.

An elder of Menyhia Palace who pleaded for strict anonymity divulged to finalwhistlegh.com on Friday that, after several consultations, Otumfuo and the rest of his cabinet members, have settled on the legendry defender and would soon introduce him to the public.

Though the source was not emphatic on when formal announcement would be made, further investigations have revealed that Osei Kuffour could be introduce to the playing body and club supporters next week.

Our source gave broad indication that Otumfuo and his elders have, so far, not been convinced by the performance of the interim CEO, Opoku Nti and his charges hence the decision to show him the exit door.

Reports also suggest that Osei Kuffour have whispered to some insiders of the club that, if given the nod, he would lure former Executive Chairman of the club, Dr KK Sarpong back to the club, to play what our source described as “an advisory role” to improve the team’s performance and the financial standing of the club.

Brief Profile of Samuel Osei Kuffour

Born in Kumasi, Kuffour was brought to Europe by Torino FC in 1991 aged just 15, after playing junior football for local teams in his native country. He joined FC Bayern Munich in 1993 from the Italian club.

After a season-long loan spells with 1in the second division, he made his breakthrough with the Bavarians. Kuffour spent 11 seasons with Bayern, raising from the youth teams to be a prominent first-squad member who lifted the UEFA Champions League with the club.

He was an integral part of the squad that won the 2000-01 Champions League also scoring the winning goal in the 2001 Intercontinental Cup, being subsequently named man of the match.

Also in that year, he finished second in African Footballer of the Year’s voting, repeating the feat accomplished in 1999.

Kuffour was also part of the Bayern team which lost to Manchester United due to two late goals in the 1999 UEFA Champions League Final, famously beating the ground in frustration afterwards, a gesture that endeared him to Bayern supporters.

He also became the youngest defender of all-time to score in the Champions League, at the age of 18 years, 61 days during the match against FC Spartak Moscow on 2 November 1994, which ended in a 2–2 draw.
