The Schalke veteran is certain that Die Manschaaft can win the World Cup in Brazil despite being in same group with Portugal, USA and Ghana.
Ghana-born ex-Germany international Gerald Asamoah has tipped Die Manschaaft to be a hit ahead of Ghana at the World Cup in Brazil and possibly win the ultimate.
Germany are in the same group with Portugal, Ghana and the United States of America.
“I felt we could’ve already won it in 2010, but we have an even better chance this time around. The boys have matured, plus a number of quality players have come through,” Asamoah told Bundesliga.com.
“I firmly believe Germany can become World Champions, although they’re of course not the only ones to have improved in recent years.”
Asamoah added: “I’m confident Klose and Gomez get fit in time as both have returned to training. Also, Löw has a good alternative available in Pierre-Michel Lasogga [of Hamburger SV]. He’s hard-working and fearless; let’s see whether Löw picks him.”
Asamoah played 43 times for Germany scoring six goals and featured for them in both 2002 and 2006 World Cups.
