Mrs. Getrude Quashigah, Chief Executive Officer of Amber Quality Food Services, has told the Justice Senyo Dzamefe Commission of Inquiry that, there was no transparency and competence in the execution of Ghana Brasil 2014 World Cup project.
Appearing before the committee on Thursday, Mrs. Quashigah, one of the caterers who was contracted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) to provide catering services to supporters in Brasil, said, there were no invoices and receipts to back purchases.
She said, she was made to take delivery of foods stuffs worth $37,000 from a super market in Brasil and when she asked of the receipts, she was told, it would be emailed to Mr. Larry Acheampong, special assistant to the ex- Minister of Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyie-Ansah.
According to Mrs. Quashigah, the amount involved in the purchase of the food stuffs were on the higher side, adding that, she could have bought the same quantity of food stuffs half the price.
She said, contrary to agreements that, the caterers will be given money to purchase food stuffs for their work, the Planning Committee instead made the purchases.
Mrs. Quashigah said, she was unhappy with the total amount of money paid them for their services.
She said, each of the three caterers were given $2,000 and subsequently $17,200 as their service charge.
“Considering the risk involve, the discomfort, the nature of work, and health implications, it was unfair for us to be paid that amount.
“My mood changed when I read what was to be paid us on a paper presented to us by Mr. Fred Darko," she added.
