Former Ghana Football Association Chairman, Ben Koufie says he was stunned when the Executive Committee of the Association rejected him for the newly created technical advisor position for the Black Stars because they said he was he was too old.
Sacked Black Stars coach, Kwasi Appiah recommended the 82-year old but members of the GFA threw out his choice.
Ben Koufie, a CAF technical instructor claims he is still vibrant and expressed surprise he was overlooked.
Kwasi Appiah came to see me that he has been asked to find a technical advisor and he thinks Im the one who will fit into that and I accepted it and I told him I was ready to do it, he told Joy sports
Later on I was told my age, I was too old to do that technical advisor job which I was really surprised because with my age I am still doing lots of work for CAF, I travel to many places to organize coaching courses.
Here in Ghana, in fact I was in Tamale conducting a CAF license course when I heard that and I couldnt reconcile.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association has stated, a coach will be named on Friday after FA mutually agreed to part ways with Kwasi Appiah. But Ben Koufie, who is a member of the FA technical directorate says he cannot be bothered who is named the next Black Stars coach.
The person I thought he was ideal for the job is not regarded as good enough, they can bring anybody whom they [GFA] think can be better than Kwasi Appiah.
