Former France International, Marcel Desailly has charged new Ghana coach Avram Grant to win the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations or get "sacked" like any other coach. The Ghana football Association appointed the Israeli trainer after parting ways with Kwasi Appiah.
And Marcel wants him to win Afcon 2015 to make Ghanaians happy or face the sack. "Avram Grant should win the cup (African cup) or get sacked like any other coach," the ex-Chelsea defender told Joy FM.
"The people of Ghana want to enjoy - we want to enjoy because football is big in Ghana and it brings a lot of happiness to people when the Black Stars win. We are expecting him to win," He added.
Mr. Marcel, who has been linked to the Black Stars job whenever the position is vacant, says coaching in Africa is difficult; but he reckon the former Chelsea boss will do well.
"He (Avram Grant) knows how difficult it is to coach in Africa; because you have to deal with many elements: cultural elements like behaviour and ego. I'm sure he knows about all these and will do his best to bring the Black Stars very high…’’
Desailly however, believes Ghana has enough quality to qualify from the group of death (Group C ) in the afcon. ‘’But it will need committed players to do the job,’’ he added.
"You need to work hard; you need to be committed to the team, to your country without thinking about anything else. We have to put our personality aside to be able to fit into the project - the project is for this team to win the African cup of nations - we don’t care about what you think, if you're a player, we just want you to perform."
