Today is Transfer Deadline Day and Michael Essien’s future with Italian Serie A club AC Milan hasn’t been without speculations.

It’s now a year since the Ghana international joined AC Milan from English Premier League side Chelsea but Essien has struggled to find a constant spot in the Milan line-up triggering a host transfer rumours.

The Black Stars player whose contract with Milan runs out at the end of the season was tipped for a return to the English Premier League but representative Fabio Piveteau squashed those rumours insisting his client will not play for any club in the Premier League than Chelsea.

Piveteau said:

“Essien will not play in the Premier League for any club other than Chelsea, his former team.

“We had offers from West Bromwich Albion and Queens Park Rangers but we refused.”

Michael Essien could however be on his way to the Major League Soccer as agent Fabrizio Ferrari refused to rule out a move to America claiming such an opportunity will be a welcome goal for he and his client.

“There are several solutions, but there have been no real negotiations.

“USA? That would be a more than welcome goal for us.”

The AC Milan midfielder despite looking to the MLS as a football destination is not short of offers from other places.

Turkish club Istanbul BB have reportedly shown interest in the former Chelsea and Real Madrid player and are very keen in getting his signature.

Michael Essien is set for a move away from AC Milan in the Italian Serie A, will it be today or at the end of the season when his contract expires?

Transfer Deadline Day will tell.
