I'm The Fire Man...No Water Can Quench The Fire - Countryman Songo

Firebrand Sports Analyst, Patrick Osei Agyemang, otherwise known as Countryman Songo says he will continue to speak his mind on issues relating to Ghana Sports no matter the pressure and threatening messages from his detractors.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Countryman Songo in his usual element promised Ghanaians that his trademark as a "fire man" will ever remain and that he will keep heaping coals on the heads of the leaders in the country.

Prior to the Black Stars clash with Ivory Coast in the African Nations Cup finals on Sunday, Countryman Songo had fired salvoes at the Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga, President of Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi and the Ghana football administrators at large for slacking in their duties to manage the Black Stars.

He was keen on the Sports Minister for failing to release the budget for the just-ended AFCON.

Despite his unfailing love for Ghana Sports, Countryman Songo was seemingly branded an “anti-Black Stars” and an enemy to the progress of the team.

According to him, until he sees a significant improvement in the sports sector, his quest to unearth the rot in the sector will keep flaming.

“I want to tell Ghanaians that I speak my mind and if I see something, I will say it. It’s not like I cannot speak my mind or you can suppress my ideas. It won’t happen that way. I want to tell Ghanaians, whether you know or not; I am the fire man. I’ll always remain as the fire man. No water can quench the fire."

Countryman Songo further slammed the Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and asked the two bodies to stop telling lies to Ghanaians.

He rebuked the Sports Minister for joining in the flight to Equatorial Guinea to cheer up the Black Stars players and failing to return to the country.

He expressed utter disappointment in the Minister for "spending taxpayers' money anyhow".

To him, there's nothing like "common sense" in the Minister's actions and trip to the AFCON.

“There is no wisdom in it. What does your common sense show you?...

“The truth is just one. Truth is hard to say but fire will burn you. You must speak the truth. You must be truthful to yourself and the nation when it comes to better Ghana Agenda, better Ghana Sports…whether politics or sports, you should speak your mind and in a way that will make a good impact.”
