Africans Must Unite...Tell FIFA To Go To Hell - Kwesi Pratt

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt has called on the African continent to unite and tell the World Football Regulatory Body, FIFA, "to go to hell."

Mr. Pratt expressed worry over the monopoly that the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) exercises over Football Associations in Africa, particularly the Ghana Football Association.

According to Mr. Pratt, it's about time African countries became a unified body and with one voice resist the excessive control of FIFA on their operations.

The seasoned journalist, who was much particular about the Ghana Football Association (GFA's) operations, wondered why the GFA is assisted with funds from State coffers but cannot be held accountable for their actions and inactions.

GFA, to Kwesi Pratt, is operating as an "island unto itself" which shouldn't be the case because the Association receives funding from the State.

He wants GFA to be transparent and accountable to Ghanaians without any intrusion from FIFA.

“We should take football to its proper level and who says that there’s no politics in football. There’s a lot of politics involved in football. So, that impression that we’ve created that GFA is an island unto itself, not subject to the laws of Ghana and that we can do as it pleases; it has to end at some point. We cannot do it alone as Ghana…

“So, we should fight that and make GFA a lot more accountable. GFA is not above the constitution of Ghana. The constitution of Ghana insists on transparency and accountability. And it must affect all institutions especially which receives funding from the State of Ghana.”

He insisted that “all African governments should be one and tell FIFA that they can go to hell."
