Black Stars coach, Avram Grant, is expected in the country to prepare for a two-week trip to Senegal where he will take up the role of technical advisor to the national U-20 team, Black Satellites, for next month’s African Youth Championship.

Evidently relishing his coaching stint in Ghana, Grant, who led the Black Stars to the 2015 AFCON final, will arrive in Accra this week after a 10-day holiday to prepare his new home in Accra ahead of his next assignment.

George Afriyie, chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, told the Graphic Sports in Accra that Grant’s mission in Senegal would be part of his scouting plans with an over all objective of building a strong Black Stars squad for the 2017 AFCON and 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

“Even though Grant will serve as technical advisor to the Satellites, his main duty in Senegal will be to look out for talents for the Black Stars.

“He has already made it clear that he would be watching our local league as part of his scouting mission and started when he watched the Accra Hearts of Oak versus New Edubiase game at the Accra Sports Stadium,” said Mr Afriyie.

“Grant has made it clear that he would stay in Ghana as long as he remained the head coach of the Black Stars.”

The Black Stars management boss said before Grant leaves for Senegal, he would address a press conference to give the media the opportunity to discuss about the last AFCON, as well as his future plans.

In 2009, former Stars coach, Milovan Rajevac, joined the Satellites in Egypt when the team qualified for the semi-finals and eventually co-opted the likes of Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Andre Ayew and Jonathan Mensah into his squad for the 2010 Nations Cup.
