Hearts Players Threaten To Resign …Over Unpaid Salaries

Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak are in deep trouble ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup reverse match against Esperance after their players threatened to resign en-block over unpaid salaries running into several months.

Key players of the club are leading a surreptitious campaign to force authorities to settle their outstanding monies owed them or risk playing it soft to crush out of the competition.

Players who spoke to Ghana’s leading football portal, Ghanasoccernet.com on condition of anonymity, say there is a grand plan to boycott their scheduled training sessions, with just five days before their crucial CAF Confederation Cup tie against the Tunisian giants.

The affected players are also planning a possible cancellation of their contracts with  four-months unpaid salary seen as solid ground to end their association with the club as stipulated by world governing body, FIFA.

Their participation in Africa’s inter-club competition is taking a financial toll on the club, as they are struggling to meet their financial obligations to players and technical staff.

Players are struggling to keep up in a sorry financial episode which has rocked the club this season with fears it could crumble their ambitions of beating Esperance to advance to the group phase of the competition.

The Accra-based side require a miracle to edge past Esperance as they trail by 4-0 from the first leg and the recent financial troubles could spell doom for the club.

Coach Herbert Addo is believed to be perplexed at the turn of events as he is struggling to inspire confidence in a morale-dampened squad ahead of the visit of the Blood and Gold.

Hearts must overturn a 4-0 deficit on Saturday after their crushing defeat in Rades two weeks ago.
