Former Ghana skipper Stephen Appiah says he is getting butterflies in his stomach as his farewell game draws closer.
The legendary Ghanaian footballer is set to officially bring down the curtains on an illustrious career that has span over two decades on the 27th of July.
‘’Tornado’’ as he is affectionately called by his fans is one of the few Ghanaian players to have represented the nation at all levels.
He made his competition debut for Ghana in Ecuador 1995 when the Black Starlets defied all odds to win the competition and played his last competition for Ghana in the record equaling quarter final stage exit at the world cup in South Africa 2010.
He stands proudly as the first ever skipper of the Black Stars to unite and qualify a highly talented but divided Black Stars to Ghana’s first ever world cup in history.
Playing a key role as the team made the round of sixteen in its debut appearance at the world stage.
Appiah says it’s beginning to feel awkward as the final day edges ever closer.
“The feeling is explainable but I take pride in what I have been able to give to this nation,” Appiah told GHANAsoccernet.com
“Everything which has a starting will definitely have an end even life does.”
Fares for the game has already gone up on sale with the crem de la crem of Appiah’s mates expected to light up the occasion.
