Black Stars coach Avram Grant wants the players of the senior national team to be like five-time National Basketball Association champions Kobe Bryant relative to his desire to improve.
The former Chelsea boss is a big fan and friend of the NBA star who announced on Sunday that he will retire at the end of the 2015/2016 season.
Grant outlined his belief in positive attitude from players and said on Monday during his press meeting at the GFA Conference room in Accra.
The Black Stars coach said:
“I like [Kobe] Bryant because he’s the type of player who always wants to improve upon his performance.
“I had the chance to listen to his colleagues who said Kobe is the type of player who would like to train two hours before and two hours after training sessions and that is why his performance is always exceptional.
“I believe in players who have positive attitude to play. I became friend with Kobe because he’s one of the few NBA players who follow everything about football and he used to follow me closely in one of the teams that I coached.”
Avram Grant took over the senior national team of Ghana in November 2014 after the Ghana Football Association and former Black Stars captain Kwesi Appiah parted ways following the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.
The Israeli took Ghana to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations for his first major tournament, placing second after losing on penalty to champions Ivory Coast.
