The Ghana international is expected to spend a few more days on the sidelines before resuming full training.
Kwadwo Asamoah will have to wait a little longer to make an injury return, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has revealed.
The Italian coach had earlier confirmed the midfielder was to make a comeback to training last Monday, having picked up a thigh injury in a 3-0 defeat of Inter Milan in a Coppa Italia fixture last month.
However, updating pressmen on the Old Lady’s injury situation ahead of Saturday’s top-of-the-table Serie A clash with Napoli, the 48-year-old revealed that the Ghanaian is expected to undergo further assessment to complete his comeback.
“As far as injuries are concerned, we’re unfortunately without [Martin] Caceres for the rest of the season,” Allegri said.
“[Giorgio] Chiellini is out and [Mario] Mandzukicwill continue to be monitored and evaluated over the week, as will be Asamoah who is on the road to recovery.
“[Roberto] Pereyra still hasn’t got 90 minutes in his legs, but remains an important player for us. I’ll need to check on [Sami] Khedira, while [Simone] Zaza and [Alvaro] Morata are both in contention to partner [Paulo] Dybala.”
With four league appearances to his name this season, Asamoah could be back in time for Juventus’ Serie A trip to Bologna next weekend.
