Accra Hearts of Oak put up a gutsy performance to silence Medeama SC 2-0 to send a clear message of intent as the Kenichi Yatsuhashi’s side broke their jinx at the Tarkwa T& A Park.

Hearts went into yesterday’s game very confident they would pick at least a point from the weekend’s top fixture, with the so-called ‘sushi’ tactics introduced by their Japanese-American trainer ensuring the Phobians maintained a perfect start in the Premier League to move into second position on the league log.

Also recording perfect records were table-topping Wa All Stars who stunned Aduana Stars 1-0 at Dormaa-Ahenkro, while new entrants Dreams FC maintained their winning run with a 1-0 home victory against Bechem United at Dawu.

In a very charged atmosphere at Tarkwa, it took newly signed Cosmos Dauda to break the deadlock for the visitors in the 77th minute before substitute Eric Kumi put the icing on the cake in injury time to break the jinx at Tarkwa. In fact, it was Hearts’ first win against the MTN FA Cup and FA Super Cup in their last seven clashes and also their first at Tarkwa in over five years.

At Dawu, Coach Charles Akonnor guided premiership debutants Dreams FC to their second straight win with an impressive display to break the resistance of a stubborn Bechem side, reports Beatrice Laryea.

Dreams, who defeated Ebusua Dwarfs 1-0 in Cape Coast last week, secured victory in the first half through Ben Nash Quansah who finished off a corner kick by Charles Lucio Osei in the 44th minute to set the hundreds of spectators at the stadium in a jubilant mood.

After recess, the visitors fought back strongly and almost got the equaliser in the 55th minute through hardworking substitute Abdallah Iddrisu who fluffed a fine chance to even the scoreline.

Disaster struck Bechem in the 90th minute when  their player, Richard Baffour, fell flat on the pitch and remained motionless for several minutes and it took the combined effort of the club’s medical team and Red Cross officials to revive him.
