More allegations of bribery influencing the selection process into the Black Stars surfaced Friday when the biological father of Mario Barwuah Balotelli told a local radio station than an FA official had made a bribery demand of him.
According to Thoman Barwuah, the unnamed official asked him to pay money to grant his other footballer son, Enoch Barwuah, access into the Black Stars, and also for the official to manage him.
Enoch, unlike Mario, is yet to commit his international future and can still turn out for Ghana.
“He (the official) paid us a visit in Italy and I learned they were ready to invite Enoch to play for Ghana in a tournament in South Africa, but he asked us to pay and manage my son in addition and I strongly objected to his proposal,” Thomas told Asempa Fm.
Enoch, who currently plays for Italian Serie D side RapalloBogliasco, is not the superstar his more famous brother is, but would be a coup for the Stars after losing out on the older Balotelli.
Mario, who was adopted as a three year old by the Balotelli’s, had no qualms choosing Italy over the country of his parents, as he was pretty much raised Italian.
These allegations come on the heels of a quite recent one by former player Kojo Poku, who made similar claims about players having to pay to earn invites to the senior national team
