Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso says the target of the Black Stars is to win next year’s Cup of Nations tournament in Gabon.
Ghana are just a point away to confirm their place at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars are currently preparing to take on Mauritius in their penultimate qualifier on Sunday.
Despite most Ghanaian looking forward in seeing the Black Stars qualify for the tournament in Gabon, Wakaso insist their aim is to bring back the lost glory of the Nation by clinching the trophy for the first time is so many years.
“We are not even thinking about the qualifiers. We are thinking about the tournament, that is what we are preparing for,” he told 3fm.
“Even the head coach said we have a long way and that our target is to bring home a major trophy to show for all the years of hardwork. It is his message to us everyday before we start training.”
Ghana lost narrowly in the last edition of the competition after losing on penalties to Ivory Coast in the finals of the tournament held in Equatorial Guinea.
