The Black Stars skipper has reaffirmed his desire to feature for the Porcupine Warriors before bringing down the curtains on his career.
Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan says he will play for giants Asante Kotoko before hanging up his boots.
The 30-year-old striker formerly represented Liberty Professionals in the Ghana Premier League for three seasons before joining Italian side Udinese Calcio in 2003. He later moved to Modena, Stade Rennes, Sunderland, Al Ain and now at Shanghai SIPG, becoming the highest paid player from Africa with a £227,000-a-week deal at the Chinese club.
“I will definitely play for Kotoko before hanging up my boots because I love the club very much," Gyan told Happy FM.
"I have always been a Kotoko fan since my childhood days. Even though, I didn’t play for them during my time in Ghana, I will definitely play for them before going on retirement. It is about the perfect time so I'm waiting for that perfect moment when everything looks set for me to play Kotoko,” he added.
Gyan, who is currently in Ghana to promote his Baby Jet boxing brand, is reported to be on his way out of Shanghai following the arrival of Brazilian striker Hulk. His elder brother Baffour, also a former Ghana international, played for Kotoko between 2010 and 2011 after a successful career in Europe and in the Middle East.
