The continental football's governing body has ruled out the possibility of the cancelled games being played at a later date.
The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has ruled out the possibility of the cancelled 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header between Ghana and Sierra Leone coming on at a later date.
A cloud of uncertainty hangs over the outstanding fixtures, originally scheduled for Thursday and Monday, which were called off following a Fifa ban on Sierra Leone Football Association.
While some say Ghana will be handed all six points that were up for grabs, others say Sierra Leone will be completely taken out of the qualifiers, leaving only the Black Stars, Ethiopia and Kenya in Group E. In the case of the latter, the results of the Leone Stars' opening two games will be nullified. However, a section of fans also believe the games could be rescheduled.
A Caf publication says: "For the two last qualifying days for the Total African Cup of Nations 2019, the Caf Executive Committee will decide in due course depending on the Federation of Sierra Leone statement.
Caf only confirmed that the matches would not be coming off On Tuesday night, less than 48 hours to the first game in Kumasi and six days to the return fixture in Freetown.
The Sierra Leonean government, whose ousting of the Isha Johansen-led administration of the football association resulted in the ban, had hoped to be given a special dispensation to honour the matches, while it undertakes "processes to resolve the current impasse".
The plea was rejected on Tuesday, and with the west Africans failing to meet a deadline to act by the end of the day, Caf announced cancellation of the games.
