Black Stars midfielder Thomas Teye Party failed to make the 10-man shortlist for the 2018 Africa Player of the Year Award.
The Confederation of African Football (Caf) revealed a 34-man list for the awards gala but pruned the number down to 10 on Friday, December 14.
The continent’s football-governing body is expected to further prune it down to three for the event to be held in Dakar, Senegal on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
The Atletico Madrid player was the only Ghanaian in the list but missed out on the shortlist.
He is, however, in contention for the 2018 BBC African Footballer of the Year.
Meanwhile, Black Queens captain Elizabeth Addo and her Black Maidens counterpart, Mukarama Adbulai, who were named in the list for the women’s category, made it to the shortlist.
Though it is a tall order for the two captains, Ghanaians would expect that one of them makes it for the final shortlist.
