Black Stars coach Otto Addo has become the first Ghanaian head coach to win a match at the FIFA World Cup.

Addo's feat followed Ghana's 3-2 win over South Korea yesterday at the Education City Stadium in Qatar.

The historic victory was also the first time Ghana had scored 3 goals in a single game at the World Cup.

Addo, 47, is only the second Ghanaian to take charge of a team in the 92-year history of the competition.

Coach Addo masterminded the victory by making three changes to his starting eleven from last Thursday's 3-2 loss against Portugal with forward Jordan Ayew, and fullbacks Gideon Mensah and Tariq Lamptey replacing Alexander Djiku, Baba Rahman and Alidu Seidu.

The German-born coach also re-jigged his formation switching from a back three with wingbacks to a back four manned by Mohammed Salisu, Daniel Amartey, Lamptey and Mensah.

The first Ghanaian coach to lead a team to the World Cup was Kwesi Appiah who failed to win a match at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Serbian coaches Ratomir Dukovic and Milovan Rajevac were in charge during Ghana's four previous wins at the World Cup.

Dukovic led Ghana to beat the Czech Republic and the USA at the 2006 World Cup while Rajevac guided Ghana to beat Serbia and USA at the 2010 World Cup.
