Bimbila DCE Under Fire

Over his alleged incompetence, the District Chief Executive for Nanumba North (Bimbila), Alhaji Mohammed Ibn Abass, has come under heavy criticism by his own party youth. Some disgruntled NDC youth in the area have threatened to demonstrate against the DCE on March 25. They suspected that the DCE, Alhaji Abass who is the District Security Committee chairman has connived with the police to deny them their right to demonstrate. With or without police authorization, Mohammed Iddisa, the spokesperson for the disillusioned NDC youth unequivocally stated that nothing will stop them from going ahead with the planned demonstration. He fumed, If the police will not allow us to demonstrate claiming that there is insecurity in the area, we are going ahead with the demonstration and they should kill all of us. He questioned the DCE, If the DCE is saying that there is insecurity in the area, it is his injustice that led to the situation; everything in Bimbila is normal, what insecurity is he talking about, who is attacking whom and are we going to demonstrate with guns? Iddisa warned, If he fails to give us security, we will give ourselves the internal security and he should make sure he doesnt stand our way because this is a party affair; he should come and kill everybody so that President Mills will be happy. Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP George Tuffour has kicked against the planned demonstration, saying The place is not an ordinary place because it is quite volatile for that matter we cannot allow them to go on the demonstration. He added, The demonstration will bring more trouble to the area so I want to meet the leaders and find out from them why they want to demonstrate and advice them accordingly. Tension started mounting in Bimbila and its environs following the Northern Regional House of Chiefs final ruling on the protracted Nanumba chieftaincy dispute. The House at its last sitting confirmed Naa Dasana Abdulai Andani as the legitimate chief of the Nanumba traditional area.
