Akunnor Turns To Kingston To Uplift Hearts

C.K Akunnor says he will be counting on experienced Laryea Kingston during his tenure as Hearts of Oak coach. The former Black Stars coach assumed the coaching reigns of the Phobians on Monday following the dismissal of Serbian Nebojsa Vucicevic after a string of poor results. Midfielder Laryea Kingston on the other hand has been in the news recently for the wrong reasons. He has been accused of assaulting an AshGold official in their 1-0 defeat in Obuasi and more recently was said to have done same to a prominent Hearts supporter after his substitution in a training game with Division Two side Juventus. But newly appointed Akunnor says he will be relying on the leadership and experience of the tagged Bad Boy of Hearts in helping overturn the fortunes of the team. Laryear (Kingston) is a big player, and will be very important for us in going forward, he told GHANAsoccernet.com. He understands he is an important member of the squad and therefore has resolved to lead by example to the other players both on and off the pitch. I will need him at his best at all times and I believe he will eventually come good for us especially now that he is scoring again. Kingston, 31, scored his first goal on his Premier League return during Wednesdays 1-1 draw away to Medeama.
