Dr. Owusu Ansah To Speak At Sports Expo, 2012

Talent Identification and Development In Africa: Myths & Realities� is one critical subject to be expatiated upon at the forthcoming 4th Accra Sports Expo, 2012 to be held in Accra from Tuesday, 15th to Friday, 18th May 2012 at the Accra Sports Stadium. Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, Director of Sports and Head of the Sports Directorate of the University of Ghana, Legon, will be the speaker on the touted subject: �Talent Identification and Development in Africa: Myths & Realities�. He will again speak on another important topic: �Achieving The Millennium Development Goals [MDGS] Through Sports: The Ghanaian Experience�. Leveraging all facets of sports business principles and practices to develop and globally promote Africa�s sports talents will be one major focus of the Expo, which will also seek to reach consensus on a designed roadmap to assist African nations, governments, sports policy makers, administrators and performers re-think sports as an emerging industry with all its attendant benefits to grow African economies. The 4th Biennial Sports Expo, 2012 is an expanded version of the 1st Accra Biennial Football Expo, 2006, which sought to redefine its commercial value in Africa and subsequent ones. It is to bring together more than 150 participants from the National Olympic Committees; District / Regional & National Sports Councils; District / Regional and National Sports Associations & Federations; sports industry investors & managers; sports medicine; club owners / managers and administrators; sports consultancy services; kit manufacturers; distributors of sports goods and equipments; sports journalists; leisure & hospitality services providers; financial, insurance and legal services; merchandising and many more from the Private Sectors. Dr. Owusu-Ansah, with an extensive range of academic and professional qualifications in sports science, sports coaching and management obtained from Brazil, Germany, Italy, Poland and Switzerland between 1984 and 2004, has held the positions of Acting Chief Executive, National Sports Council and Director of Sports at the Ministry of Youth & Sports. He is also the initiator and the first head of the Winneba Sports College, now C.K. GYAMFI Sports College; a holder of a Masters of Science and Doctorate degrees in Physical Education and Sports and an Executive Masters in Sports Management Organisation. Dr. Owusu-Ansah, current member of the Commonwealth Advisory Body On Sports in charge of East and West Africa Commonwealth Nations, is the Country Director of Beckwith International Leadership Development in Ghana [BILD]. He was until 2009, the Chairman of the African Union Bureau of Sports Experts that formulated the Africa Union Sports Policy for Sustainable Development. Dr. Owusu-Ansah has authored two books on sports and fitness and several articles and research works on sports room fitness, wellness and related matters.
